This is soooo ridiculous! It's like if you ave a fishtank full of dirt, ants and grass; To the ants in this tank, this would be the world and unless they venture 'out of the box' they'll never know the big world that exists. If we applied the same philosophy then the Earth would still be "flat". You can't get real talk from one group. For instance, let's say I was in the market to buy a video game system. I go to a conference held by Microsoft about their XBox 360. In this marketing event they [MS] will tell me about their console and how they are so much better than the competition. Now, if I leave this event and don't look at the competition for comparison then I'm walking away from this event thinking that the 360 is the best console ever. It's INSANE! If one has questions about the witnesses, being limited to reading more of their crap any gonna answer anything, that's nail driven fact based logic. I know they have to check their brains at the door but c'mon, can they at least TRY to be smarter than a 5th grader?

Everything seems to be talking about things in pretense. For someone who has "infinite power" he sure does drag ass. In fact, can we get rid of the term "godspeed" altogether? Is it the JW's or the God of the bible you no longer believe?
by reniaa ini have a question for the ex-jw's on this forum after months of reading the forum..... many say how good it is to be free of the oppressiveness of the jw's that they can now enjoy the freedom to... have sex, celebrate christmas, gamble, embrace politics etc.
there are still biblical scriptures and principles in place that if you still followed the bible would mean you avoid these things and yet these are now embraced as one of the perks of no longer being a jw so in my confusion i ask.... if these are what you want, isn't it more correct to say you no longer follow the bible as apposed to just the jw's?.

I look at religion and the bible like this: Every concept we have about god is through the programming of someone else, and the ones who wrote it are subjected to this as well. In those times, man was pretty wild so the bible and concept of god was created as a way to keep tabs on who was doing what. Of course if I wanted people to believe my nonsense I would say it was true and that god himself told me to write it the way it was written. The problem with the bible is that it's full of supposed instances where god stepped in and did something and he wasn't all millenia about it. By contrast, we don't have such massive undeniable miracles today, we have randomness. Couple that with what they've been taught about god and bam! god has some kinda role in their lives. We're slowly breaking out of this unfortunate habit though.

Searcher, it's not that I "know". I'm just looking at it realistically. If the church is right and one goes to either heaven or hell what would said person take with them for use in that new existence? Love? Sex? Would we pay bills or strive to climb a ladder of success? Would we have kids....etc? If the Kingdumb Hall is right then there would only be so much we could take with us to this paradise or Jokehovah would risk the Earth being tainted once more and again be "frustrated by failure".

And a practice session for what? Nothing we learn here now is going to be usable after death. All the hardships and obstacles we face will have been erased. One is not going to have to know how to love in hell. You aren't going to have to "climb a ladder of success" on Earth, and you won't be having/procreating kids in heaven. Everything that we've learned here won't be usable in ANY scenario after death, so what would Earth be besides a big waste of time?

The problem here is choice. I think the dubs believe that....well take for instance if I were checking out someone else's wife, well in gods eyes I have committed adultery. That's like me thinking about running a red light and being ticketed because I thought it. So if this is how he looks at it, he would have to kill someone in this paradise because of their thoughts, assuming they thought something displeasing to him, eliminating choice and singlehandedly turning people into bots, or allow choice to continue and man infect the earth much like it's been done already. If this is what I have to look forward to, then no, I don't want to live forever and be subjected to watching my every thought and/or move. There's no time for us There's no place for us What is this thing that builds our dreams yet slips away from us Who wants to live forever Who wants to live forever....? Why would you want to serve Jehovah?
